WELCOME TO ASRA KHADER

Architecture
of restraint.

An independent practice based in Bangalore — residences, retreats, and cultural spaces drawn in concrete, stone, and light.

ABOUT THE PRACTICE

We're more than architects — we're translators of site, light, and stone. For five years, we've helped private clients build places that quietly hold their attention.

FAQ

Everything you need to know — upfront.

Common questions clients ask before commissioning the studio.

How long does a typical project take from sketch to handover?
For a private residence, plan on 14–22 months — split roughly 4 months of design, 2 of approvals, and the rest construction. Smaller pavilions or interior commissions are quicker. We’ll give you a calendared timeline before any contract is signed.
Do you take on projects outside India?
Yes, in collaboration with a local executing architect. We’ve completed studio-led design across Sri Lanka and the UAE this way. The principal travels for site review at key milestones.
Are interiors and architecture handled together?
Almost always. The studio is structured to deliver shell and fit-out as one. Detaching the two is offered, but rarely produces the result we’d sign our name to.
How do fees work?
Either a percentage of project cost or a fixed fee — chosen during the proposal stage based on scope. Either way, fees are billed against milestones, not hours, and you see the schedule before signing.
Can you work with my existing contractor?
Often, yes — provided their finish standard matches the drawings. We’ll do a tooling and quality assessment before agreeing.

ABOUT THE STUDIO

A studio shaped by the sites it has worked.

Asra Khader is a Bangalore-based architectural practice founded in 2020. We work in concrete, stone, and light — quietly, deliberately, and only on projects we can devote ourselves to.

PHILOSOPHY

Silence as a form of expression.

Our work begins with what to leave out. Each site is a structural puzzle solved through the balance of light, material, and gravity — not the addition of ornament. The buildings hold attention by being still, not loud.

01
Precision

Drawn lines that match built lines.

02
Restraint

Less, until only the structural decision remains.

03
Site

Architecture that grows from where it stands.

04
Time

Buildings that age into the landscape, not against it.

TECHNICAL RIGOUR

Structural integrity meets visual stillness.

Our process is rooted in the engineering of the invisible. The most powerful architectural statements are the ones that do not announce themselves.
